reinventing healing

Restorative Oxygenation Wound Dressings

Acute ~ Chronic ~ Surgical

MEDNOXA Inc. IS AN EARLY STAGE Wound Care startup Commercializing Effective AND AFFORDABLE OXYGEN GENERATION AND DELIVERY wound dressings To Promote the healing of acute and chronic wound in an easier, cheaper and faster way.

the growing Wound Care problem

Wound care impacts all of us. From the war-fighter on the battlefield, to the military veteran with diabetes, or from surgical incisions to blisters, we all fall somewhere on the wound care spectrum. Each of us, along with our friends, families and children have a need to heal a wound as quickly as possible to prevent infection. Unfortunately, some people
have a much higher risk of having a seemingly minor wound lead to an amputation or life threatening condition.

The standard of wound care is to use a wound dressing to create a protected, moist wound environment. However, one key ingredient for healing is reduced at best, and removed at worst; oxygen.

Have you ever heard the wound care advice 'Let it breath' or 'get some air to it"? This old adage is part true, part false.
  • Part True; a covered wound looses access to atmospheric oxygen and healing depends entirely on the circulatory system to deliver oxygen and exposure to atmospheric oxygen has been shown to promote faster healing.
  • Part False; an uncovered wound looses protection from outside contaminants, increasing the risk of infection. Also, an uncovered wound dries out, slowing healing and increasing scaring.

Introducing the wound dressing your mother always wanted.

our initial focus

Diabetic wounds: Globally, a leg is lost to diabetes every 30 seconds. Ulcers on the feet and legs are a serious problem affecting 12-25% of the 29M diabetics within the U.S. and over 415M diabetics across the globe. Poor oxygen delivery due to circulatory issues is a significant reason for the formation of diabetic ulcers. Despite $15B in direct spending, in recent years an average of 73,000 lower extremity amputations are performed each year in the US (a rate of 200/day) as a result of diabetic foot ulcers. Although 85% of amputations are preventable there are limited options to inhibit the formation or the degradation of diabetic wounds. Early and effective treatment is critical

the mednoxa Solution

A patented, affordable, flexible wound dressing that generates concentrated oxygen gas from hydrogen peroxide for controllable, accurate delivery of oxygen to wounds to stimulate tissue growth and promote healing.
Testing of similar Topical Oxygen (TO) wound care devices have shown healing of non-healing wound, faster time to full closure, reduced scaring and reduced pain.  In April 2017, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) opened the door for reimbursement of topical oxygen by chronic wounds by regional contractors  Currently, there is no other low cost options and there are no over-the-counter options. We blend a Band-Aid™ with advanced topical oxygen wound care to be ideally suited for healing wounds across the wound care spectrum.

The growing Market

In 2016, over $82B was spent on wound care in the United States and $15B of direct spending on treating diabetic ulcers alone. Significantly, over-the-counter wound care is a $6B+ market. While, MedNoxa is initially positioned for use on diabetic ulcers, the broader wound markets of acute, chronic and surgical wounds are also relevant. These markets generated revenues in excess of $50B. The initial addressable market for MedNoxa is estimated at well over $1B and expands to over $6B with follow-on expansion into additional market segments.
